On a quiet street in the city          城市某条寂静的街道上

Another summer's come and gone       又过了一个夏季

Then among the leaves near an orphan's home    可是在一堆孤儿院附近的落叶中
A piece of paper caught his eyes       一张纸条吸引住了他的目光
And he stooped to pick it up with trembling hands  他弯下腰用颤抖的手捡起了它 ( [( ]1 S# X# h* _2 V* r! h- I( [
And as he read the childish writing          而当他阅读着那稚嫩的笔迹时
The old man began to cry                         老人哭了起来 " M2 u% o7 m& F) c
'Cause the words burned inside him like a brand    只因那些字句像把火炬在他心中燃烧

Well, the old man's eyes searched the orphan's home 老人的目光向孤儿院内搜寻着
And came to rest upon a child 然后停留在一个孩子脸上
With her nose pressed up against the window pane 女孩的鼻尖贴着玻璃窗
And the old man knew he'd found a friend at last 老人明白他终于找到一个朋友了
So he waved at her and smiled 于是他对着女孩挥手微笑着 + ?* `( l/ R- h0 h8 ]" l
And they both knew they'd spend the winter 他们都知道他们将一同度过这个冬天
Laughing at the rain 一起在雨中欢笑
And they did spend the winter laughing at the rain 整个冬季他们在雨中不停的欢笑着
Talking through the fence 透过栅栏天马行空的交谈着 ! W, R5 n& |& K% \" V
Exchanging little gifts they made for each other 交换他们为彼此做的小礼物
The old man would carve toys 老人会雕刻玩具 ! ^% q$ L& s" v
And the little girl would draw pictures of beautiful ladies for him 小女孩就帮他画美女在纸上
And they laughed a lot       他们无尽的欢笑着
But then one day, on the first of June    可是有一天，就在六月的第一日 8 ^: U! ~9 ^- {* L' S- y
The little girl ran to the fence 小女孩如往常那样奔向了栅栏
The old man wasn't there 却没有看见老人的身影
And somehow she knew he was never coming back 不知道为什么，她知道老人不会再回来了
So she went back to her little room 所以她回到她的小房间
Took a crayon and wrote 拿出一支蜡笔，又写了起来 ; ]/ H! R, E  G

这首歌是我年轻时候很喜欢的一首歌，那时是齐豫版本的，更有味道，可惜现在只找到梁静茹版本能完整听完。当时虽然听不懂，但还是深深的被它的旋律和凄美译文感动。
